What is Sisterhood in Full Bloom?

Sisterhood in Full Bloom is an episodic, non-serialised cyberpunk/slice-of-life/crime drama web novel exploring the lives of three young women from different walks of life, set between the lighthearted, whimsical nature of the girls’ day-to-day work lives and the dark, gritty and violent world of a secretive mixed-martial arts ring crossed with the criminal underworld.

It takes place in a fictional British-American-Japanese city, New Novarisca City, a beacon of technological innovation and progress, where the lines between cutting-edge cybernetics and the suffocating influence of corporate power are blurred. Home to New Novarisca is the Crimson Ring - a secretive underground MMA ring where fighters compete for glory and riches. For some, the only way to survive is to fight in the Crimson.

The Crimson Ring is operated by The Crimson Syndicate - a powerful, overbearing and highly influential criminal organisation operating deep within the underbelly of Neo Novarisca City, with historical ties to various criminal syndicates and underground organisations. They’re responsible for maintaining their control and influence over everyone in New Novarisca and drawing as much out of the city as they can.

Enter our three main characters: Lucia Watanabe, Ariana Shimizu and Vespera Kurosu, three young women born in Neo Novarisca City, each from various different backgrounds, with various different motivations and goals, while sharing the common goal of survival in the Crimson Ring and the greater climate of Neo Novarisca City.

The story focuses on the individual and shared experiences of Lucia, Ariana and Vespera as they navigate the challenges of the Crimson Ring and the greater climate of Neo Novarisca City, while enjoying their moments of downtime and the company they find in each other and other members of the Crimson Ring.

Episodic Structure

Sisterhood in Full Bloom is episodic, which means it does not follow a serial (linear) narrative structure - instead, each of its episodes feature standalone narratives that build upon each other. Each episode stands alone, but the overarching story of the three girls’ lives is woven together through their interactions and shared experiences.

Episodes are organised into chapters, each focusing on a different aspect of the girls’ lives, from their personal relationships to their professional careers. The chapters are interconnected, with each one building upon the previous one to create a cohesive narrative.
